Due to scheduling the Daniel Igali 5 km Walk/Run for the Kids has been postponed.
Date to be announced for the spring of 2012.

To our faithful group of of participants we thank for your understanding and continued support of the Daniel Igali Foundation.

With the funds donated this past year we were able to build a pre school classroom this summer. We have also raised funds to repaint & refurbish the school facilities in December of 2011 after the rainy season has passed in the Niger Delta.

We look forward to seeing everyone come out in the spring for our 3rd Annual Run!

One of the indelible moments in Canadian Olympic history is of gold medallist Daniel Igali triumphantly circling a maple-leaf flag on the wrestling mat in Sydney in 2000 before kneeling down to kiss it and then dissolving into tears when the medal was placed around his neck.

Annual Igali Run draws sun, funds and high energy

Sunny autumn skies – and a $10,000 donation – gave participants at the 2nd annual Daniel Igali Foundation Run for the Kids on Oct. 23 lots to celebrate.

The donation is from Richmond Secondary School’s Global Perspectives program via teacher Kevin Matheny, son of the late Maureen Matheny, whom Igali named his school in Eniwari, Nigeria after. Kevin and daughter Ella delivered the letter on behalf of the Richmond school program and took part in the run with several of the school’s students.

2nd annual Run gears up Oct.23 after Commonwealth success

Canadian Olympic champion Daniel Igali cheered from the sidelines as coach of Nigeria’s national wrestling team, which collectively racked up medals – four gold, four silver and seven bronze - at the Commonwealth Games in India this month.

Igali, whose contract with the team has been extended to the 2014 Olympics, knows their success will resonate with youth back in Nigeria, where the Surrey resident is working to make a difference in the lives of young people.
